Outdoor Landscape Lighting

Enclosed-Patio-with-Wall-Ornamental-GrassesThe Autumn season signifies cooler weather, as well as the start of the holiday seasons.  We have survived the summer heat and the kids are back in school!  This means the weekend becomes a target to focus on family and relaxing.

For many families, a backyard is a must for outdoor gatherings to spend quality time in pleasant weather. There are quite a few things that can be added to your landscape, to increase the backyard enjoyment during the cooler autumn season.

If you are in the position of needing a complete landscaping overhaul, JC’s has your back! As with many other North Texas cities, McKinney has enjoyed our sod installation jobs for several years. Let us know how we can help!

Let’s explore a few great landscaping ideas that are perfect for the fall.

Fire Pits

To start off with, firepits are a simple addition to any landscape.  Building a fire pit is a relative easy and inexpensive task to accomplish.

Fire pits are great for easy barbecues and marshmallow roasting.  Also, imagine sitting around a warm fire on those those really cool nights, telling stories, while drinking a beer or your favorite wine.

Outdoor Kitchens

Keeping a small outdoor kitchen under your patio is a great way to serve your family and guests without having to keep running in and out of your home. Some outdoor kitchens cost several thousand dollars, which is certainly not reasonable for everybody! But DIY outdoor kitchens can cost as little as a few hundred dollars, if you’re willing to invest in a fun Autumn project.

Outdoor Living Rooms

Many of us enjoy heading out to restaurants and sitting outside on or in the patio area.  Cool weather, in combination with groovy music or a ballgame on the screen, makes for excellent autumn leisure. Why not create that ambience in your own back yard?

The benefits of styling your own outdoor living room also include keeping and eye your kids without the hazard of a distant public playground or the risk of disturbing other patrons in a public venue. A comfy leisure space of your own can bring together the joys of comfort, safety, familiarity, and home cooking.

Here are some ideas for how to bring that concept to life:

  • Outdoor Patio Furniture – Modern patio furniture has evolved significantly over the years.  Comfort, quality and price.  Most furniture sets cost less than 400.00
  • Nowadays, many homes have televisions set up outside, under the patio or in the deck area.  Wall mounts and protective weather covers keep you electronics safe.
  • Outdoor stereos and speakers are also more common than ever, thanks to modern tech.  There is a wide variety of sound systems and audio options for your outdoor space that require minimal setup.

Most of these items can be purchased for for less than 1000.00 combined.  All you will need is a good extension cord to run out to the backyard, if you don’t have any external outlets. Then, once the party is over,  just roll it back up and bring in any equipment that isn’t weather hardy.

Outdoor lighting

Good lighting is must for outdoor entertainment.  In October, the nights will start earlier, so quality ambient lighting is a sure way to enhance the atmosphere. Thanks to LED lighting, you can get a lot of lights for very little money.

These eco-friendly bulbs, that last far longer than their predecessors, can brighten up your foliage and your outdoor living space in myriad ways. String lights, path lights, and even a simple LED bulb in a standing lamp- all of these can be used to enhance your garden and light up a fun outdoor evening.

JC’s Landscaping offer holiday lighting installation.

Conclusion

The autumn season will be gone before you know it, so make sure you take advantage of the opportunities we’ve outlined to make the most of those deliciously cool outdoor evenings. The great thing about these suggestions is, once winter begins to melt away, all these ideas will be equally enjoyable next spring as well!

Love the outdoors. Unlucky in real estate but lawn and gardening I can excel at.

  1. Oh, I love this! I’ve been wanting a fire pit for ages, and they seem awfully expensive, but with some of these ideas it looks like I’d be able to afford both a fire pit and a little outdoor kitchen. We aren’t really comfortable grilling outside in the summer because it’s so very hot; our cooking outdoors doesn’t really start until things start to cool off a little, so I love, love, love these ideas!

    Can’t wait to get started!

  2. A fire pit is an absolute must for the fall! I mean, they’re fun enough as it is in the summertime, but once it starts getting chilly outside there’s nothing better than sitting around a fire to stay warm and having a good time with your friends. Reminds me of when I was a kid during the fall, running around in the yard playing tag or whatever, and then huddling around the fire pit to warm up again, making s’mores and roasting hot dogs sometimes. Those were the days.
